Default civic engine in a teg??

sup guys..blew my motor..i went to this shop in queens and it was pretty interesting..he said that for 700 dollars he can get me a civic si motor from japan and swap it in after building it up..ive heard of civics swapping in teg engines but not the other way around..and this guy looks like he knos his sht tho..jus seeing wat u guys thought. btw the LS motor was only 50 dollars less.

not sure..i jus talked to him soo far and saw pictures of a teg with one..but its supposively some jdm civic engine that has vtec?
i dont kno how many kinds there are..sorry

For 700 bucks he can MAYBE get you a first gen b16 motor. Don't do it. High mileage, and its older than your car, not to mention not having enough torque to push that integra of yours. Stick with an LS.

i can understand what ur saying bout it lacking torque but does it matter if it has high mileage if im changin the internals..i hear different things
and the vtec is jus soo tempting =)
even tho i hear vtec not as good with boost

u can change the internals and whatnot to rebuild the motor, but a B16 in an integra is weaksauce. use that money to build up the LS engine and itll be better IMO

well...the JDM DA did come with B16A in the line-up.......so i think as long as your is a DA then it be fine...

I hope your mechanic meant a B16A swap and not just the engine because well the engine itself goes for about $500 but it's pretty useless without the matching short geared transmission (and VTEC ECU). So assuming he meant the swap, well it's a tradeoff but a lot of people do it. More power, less torque. A JDM Integra XSi supposedly runs a mid 15 sec quarter mile, like a GSR, but who knows. I'd probably do it if I were in your situation.

i say get teh b16! ! that thing is a monster and it has VteC, now its a monster on drugs!
