Default Annoying noise

Anywhere from 3K to 4.5K rpm's(and sometimes when I idle), my car(98 gsr) produces a rattling/tinging/vibration noise that appears to be coming from underneath the car. I have put the car on my rack and for the life of me, can't figure out where the noise is originating. It is really annoying as the noise takes away from the sound of the engine.

Any ideas where it is coming from? Is this a common problem in Integra's?

Mine 96 GSR just started making the buzzing sound again. Usually happens between 2700 and 3000 RPM. From reading other blogs (mainly team-integra.net), it could be a loose heat shield.

I had this problem once before, and it was the A-pipe which was under warranty. It shouldn't cause any problems with the car, it just sounds like crap.

This occured for me as well. It is a loose heat shield underneath your car.

To fix it I just threw a hose clamp around the heat shield and exhaust pipe and tightened it against my exhaust pipe to stop the rattling. It's held up for 1.5 years now.

I know mine makes a weird whirring high pitched noise anytime while the car is on. And seems to be coming from the engine bay. Not to mention a mechanical BRRRRR noise from behind my glove box everytime i start the car...

Thanks for the answers - I will check out the "heat shield" theory and see what I can find.

If there are any other suggestions, all answers are welcome - thanks!

im pretty sure the constant "whirring" noise is from the fuel pump. pop your hood while the car is on and you'll be able to tell its loudest over the pump.

i had the same exact problem with my car, and it just happened that it was my center pipe that was bent and that was rubbing against something on the car, which made the annoying vibrating and noise.

Apparently this is a common problem with Integras. Does every one here have Custom Cat-back exhaust and/or lowered ride hieght? And maybe you have scraped, and/or bump your car on a dipp or arch in the road?

If you find out how to fix the problem let me know? Please!, so I can fix my GSR aswell.
