Default check engine light

The check engine light came on driving home today. I stopped by autozone and had them check the code. Their handy dandy little machine read code
1456, which translates to

evap fuel system leak
probable causes
1. gas cap
2. failed vent or purge solenoid
3. failed hose connection or hose

1 is a no brainer, but what do 2 and 3 mean?

I will disconnect the battery and reset and see what happens.

Thanks

Check your hoses from the purge valve and from the gas tank. More than likely you have a vacuum hose which has a leak. They do become brittle over time and need checking to be sure their not sucking air in, creating a code. Also, this hose could be at the tank,,,,which makes checking a little more difficult. Easy way to check a vacuum leak - spray the hoses with carb cleaner and see if the engine changes speed, at idle. Meaning the carb cleaner got sucked into the hose.
