Abnormal Tire Wear.
The inside tread of both front tires has worn prematurely on every set of tires I have owned. The rest of the tread wears evenly. I don't think it's an alignment problem since I keep my suspension aligned, and the car tracks straight with hands off the steering wheel. The car has 187,000 miles on it and is still all OEM; absolutely nothing has been replaced. The original Michelins were replaced at 35,000 miles due to this problem and I don't think the suspension components were worn out then. Still the problem persists and I want to get more miles out of my recently replace tires. I wonder if the stock alignment setting calls for negative camber which might explain the problem. Has anyone experienced this?
It is an alignment problem, more specifically, out-of-spec toe-in. Just because it tracks straight doesn't mean that the alignment isn't out of whack. Negative camber doesn't affect tire wear. Do you have spec sheets from your last alignment?
I believe is the toe as well...I just had an alignment on Monday and that was my problem...The camber angle was negative on mine...He said unless I get the adjustable cambers that come with the ball joint, he could not adjust the camber angle...The front and rear cambers will be coming soon...The total would have been around $80US...Take it in for a look...
