Default clutch master cylinder

i repalced my clutch master, and slave last year when i did my clutch and flywheel. i'm not sure but i think it may be goin bad already(the CM). in the mornings there is about 2 inches of free play in the pedal and it engages about 1/4 inch off the floor. needless to say this makes it very hard to get into gear and very hard to drive. but, after driving say 10 miles, pressure starts to build up and usually by the time i get to where im goin its back to normal(of course). i can't see if theres any fluid leakin out of the seal, i checked at work and i only have a 1 year warranty on it( out of warranty 2 months ago) so thats not gonna help. is this normal to have the pedal react so differently? is it suppsoed to be sloppy when its cold and then once the car is moving it gets back to normal? just wondeirng cuz its kind of annoyin driving it as is when its cold.

after drivin around today, the pressure remained constant in the pedal. is this normal behavior for the CM with cold fluid?

On a stock clutch, there shouldn't be too much slop when cold. Pedal feel should be firm enough to give good feedback, but not stiff. You probably have air bubbles in the clutch line. Just bleed it and you should be fine. Make sure you're using a dot3-4 fluid. Anything higher will absorb water vapors and go bad quick.

If your not leak fluid then it should always be firm regardless of the temperature. Just bleed it some more and see if it goes away.
