Default Engine question

Ok Guys,

My buddy is lookin for a new engine for his 96 teg. His mechanic found him one with 150 psi across the board for the comp test, and oil 40 hot ......I told him that the comp test looks ok since it is across the board and everything, thgoh I could be wrong I'm still kinda new to this, but I had no idea what "oil 40 hot" meant......does anyone know what is meant by this?

Ummm i didnt mean it as in the numebr itself persay, it is an rs, and i meant decent as in its the same across the board, which is a good sign.......SHould i tell him its too low if its 150? like is there a reason why he should be weary over the 150?

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick... :shake:
150 psi is a sign of a motor worn to hell.
Any mechanic who tries to make a buck off a motor in that condition is a con-man.

Unless your friend is getting that motor for free and he plans to rebuild it... walk the hell away. :a:

I'm with Dave on this, my motor with almost 194k is at about 185 all around. How much would he be buying the motor for?

when buying used motors be careful of the con-man mechanics. i have no real advice to give on this subject because i'm still searching for a decent K24A2 to drop in my teggy to match up w/ a RSX type S tranny. the cost is going to be outrageous...but it's sooo going to be worth it. luckily i have the auto hobby shop on base to work on her with and all the tools and accessories are there when i need it. my suggestion is to hold off on that engine and keep searching.
