Default wheel bearings

How can I tell or check if my wheel bearings are shot?

I think my front passenger one is going out or already out, it makes what sounds like excessive road noise when i go straight, and even more when i turn.

Thanks.

Mine sounded just like that when they were shot. How many miles are on the car?

I don't think really is any easy way to just look at them. They are pressed inside the hub and you won't them out without a hydralic press. Also they usually sound fine once the car is in th air, so it is difficult to know for sure. One thing you can do is jack up the car and see if there is any play in wheels, but thats not 100%

most of the time if you can get the wheels safely up off the ground, speed up to 40 miles an hour and you should be able to hear a hum. But it should be much louder at 40 on the road. Just a humming sound.

So I jacked the car up and there was a tiny bit of play on the driver's front wheel. It's the same play you would get if your lug nuts were not on tight. It moves maybe .5 - 1mm so not much, but I think this is the culprit.

So for new wheel bearings is this something I should go OEM with?

yes go OEM theres not alot of after market wheel barrings.
you should hear a weird noise coming from your wheel well if there shot. dont drive your car though because once you drive it enough they will lock up and you wont be able to drive at all.

is it the back wheels? i am assuming so because those go out more often. and it is advised that you replace both in the back not just one. because if one's fucked then the other isnt far away and then you would have to bring it back.

but once its fixed your car has a great ride

if you are up for it, you can remove the hub and just take that in and have them press the old bearing out and press the new one in. It will save you a little money, but if you haven't taken a suspension apart before its probably not worth the time and frustration.

Hi,

I hear noise while I'm driving, like originally posted, it sounds like excessive road noise, I assume this is because of the tire not making a perfectly straight track as I'm travelling down the road. Does that sound right to you?

Guess I'll phone the dealership for a quote on the part(s).
