Imobilizer question...
Is it at all possible to take the imobilizer system out of a 2000-2001 GSR and put it in another car? Reason im asking is that i recently put a 2001 GSR swap into my 2000 civic but the ECU from the GSR doesnt like it cause i dont have the imobilizer in my car so it thinks im trying to steal it. Or does anyone knwo if i could just use and earlier GSR ecu like a 96-99?(im using a 99 or 00 civic SI wire harness) Or have anyother ideas as to how i could solve this problem? thanks
you use 92~95 OBD1 or 96~99 OBD2 ECU.. with harness, of course.
In order to make the 01' OBD2V2 GSR ECU to work in your car.. it's either you have the same keys(chips) out from the same car with the immobilizer unit(from ignition) then you would be able to drive it no problem..
if you happen don't have the exact same key(with chip) then just go down to the dealer and get the reset immobilizer procedure or ask them to get you a copy with the chip to match the ECU code..
Good luck

so it is possible for me to use the immobilier ignition from the GSR on my car and it will work? I found a website where the guy said he used the ignition switch with imobilizer from the GSR to get his to work. How much of a ***** would it be to do that?
yes.. it's possible and do as the guy did.
you need a ignition switch with immobilizer unit on it.. (not sure if your 2000 CIvic has it.. but double check it.. if your ignition switch has the immobilizer unit.. on it.. then you are fine)
You need to send the singal to the ECU that your Code has match with the ecu is not it? "ignition sender, ECU receiver"
