Nothing but pointless bickering about how to retrieve CEL codes.
The offending posts were deleted.

Now can we please just drop it and just solve the fucking problem?
It's this kind of shit that scares off new members...

Oh......well where is this dude? I'm curious as to what his problem was. My CEL came on again, reading the same code. I need to get a new IAC valve. But my car idles perfect, is the funny thing...right around 800rpm, but I also notice that when it's coming down from popping the throttle or stopping at a light, it drops to about 1200rpm for about 5 seconds, then slowly drops to 800 or so.

So what does this mean?

Evaporative Emission Control System leak detected in the fuel tank area

At what point did this turn into a "Diagnose your Check Engine Light here thread" ? :shake:

I guess if the OP has left, there's no harm in it... but I hope we're not on a path toward derailing every single thread in here. :hsugh:

QuikSilver: Remove the IACV and clean it. The valve may be sticking and causing the ECU to freak out because of the reading coming off of the MAP sensor. Lastly, reset the ECU by disconnecting power for 10 minutes (but be sure you have your OEM radio anti-theft code on hand before doing so)

Try2Live4God: The short answer is that the ECU believes that there is a leak in the plumbing that draws fuel vapor from the gas tank to the evaporative emissions canister under the hood.

The way it came to that conclusion is rather complex; when I can get home to my HELMS manual, I'll post the diagnostic flowchart for you.

Make sure your gas cap is on tight.

Thanks Dave. I'll give it a good cleaning. I have an aftermarket deck, no worries!

Thanks man.

i would say just tighten the gas cap, clear the code, and wait to see if it comes back on.. if it doesnt, then problem fixed.
