The first thing I would check is to see if you are actually getting spark. The car just dying like you described sounds to me like your ignition coil or ignition control module went out.

So here is the update. Im back to square one. The engine is back to flooding itself out. It seems as though the injectors are stuck open as it dumps lots of fuel into the engine, so much so that it floods up the intake pipe to the air filter and gas also gets down into the oil. It does this with both ECU's so obviously it wasn't the ECU. My question to you then is what could cause this? Thanks.
