yeah thats 6mm of height difference.

So if anything Im better off with a B18B crank in a B18C block? Im planning on Wco or Eagle rods & pistons to up the compression anyway. Theres a JE set thats 12.4:1 with Carrillo H beam rods for like $1100. Good deal? heres the link.

PS- Yeah i dont even know why they call it a B series. It has NOTHING in common with the b series family.

carrillo h beams are designed more for high hp boosted apps. their proA rods are lighter and better for na and light hp apps. but still a little overkill for 90% of setups.

Well theres only 200 bucks difference in price. Might as well. Then later on if I wanna boost it then I can. Only drawback is I'll have to go with at least stock compression if not less unless I do like 5psi but that might be too much for 12.4 compression. Thats just a good way to burn a piston.

12.4:1 CR? :eek4:
If that math is correct, that's seriously pushing it for pump gas.

I would consider 10.5:1 your practical limit if turbocharging is ever going to come into the equation... possibly 11.0:1 if you've got a competent tuner and you're sleeving your block.

meh, 12.4:1 is doable on pump gas. you just need cams with lots of duration to bleed off some of that static compression.

but i'd keep it safe and sane in the 11:1 territory.

cool, I'll look into it and see what i can find thats doable. I figured 12.4 is ok with 93 octane which I run in it now. Am planning on a set of cams anyway so I guess I just need to pan out a good setup. Snoop you said a longer duration cam would help? So what kind of lift would be good?

most "stage 2" and bigger cams have 12mm+ lift on the primary lobes

Well I got to the bottom of things... literally... just waiting on a set of bearings at the moment. I was surprised how it didnt take long at all to get it all torn down.
