Default B20 crank in a B18?

I forget who mentioned it but supposedly the crank in the B20 might fit and is stronger? Any truth to it?

The B20A crank isnt stronger, it simply has a longer stroke.... and it certainly isn't a drop in replacement for your B18C1 crank.

the b20a has a 95mm crank if i recall correctly. you'll have to do some work to get it into a b18 block.

all honda cranks are forged and exceptionally strong. doubtful a b20a crank would be stronger than any other.

Doesnt sound worth the hassle.. I wont be runnin boost or anything, just N/A but would like to do it once and not have to go back in. maybe higher compression and Im gonna need cams since these have some worn groves into the lobes. VTEC miles are hard on cams.

You CAN swap in a B20 crank in a B18.

The B20 crank and the B18B crank from an Integra LS are the same. The stroke on both cranks are 89mm. You also have to go with shorter rods for a B18B Integra LS or B20 CRV to maintain the correct compression height. You can use any VTEC pistons of your choosing.

As a matter of comparison, the B18C GSR and Type R motors use an 87mm crank, but with longer rods to maintain the same compression height.

Get it???

Please trust me on this one. I'm currently running a LS crank and rods disguised in a B18C1 block. It is THE perfect LS/VTEC.

I should also mention that the only modification needed to a B18C block is to slightly bend the VTEC oil squirters to allow for the rotation of the 89mm LS crank. If you are using forged pistons, then you don't need VTEC oil squirters at all. They make a kit to plug the oil squirter holes that are left over.

The 89mm LS crank fits right into a B18C block perfectly otherwise.

what you say is true about the b20b/z. we are talking about the earlier POS b20a.

The earlier B20A??? Wasn't that from the '88-'91 Preludes? What is POS.........piece of shit??? Don't know what your talking about. Point is that the 89mm crank from any B18A, B18B, B20B, or B20Z is the OEM crank to use for a B series stroker motor. I'm not familiar with the B20A, but I think I've seen info that states that it is totally different than all other B series motors.

exactly. b20a cranks are 95mm stroke and require some extensive modifications. the only thing it has in common with other b series is the name.
