Default Ok need help with internal work

Hey guys so far i have Koni Shocks/Springs on Teg, a Short ram Intake, and getting a header soon (Next month?), after that a new catback system...

So what i am asking is pretty much out of small performance ideas.

Next i heard and been resurching and searching..

I was thinking about the LS/Vtec head, but i heard it is really unreliable, and not worth the extra money (1,500 dollars) Only a extra 10 HP

My friend at Auto Zone says i should buy a Cam gear/Shaft from him he will sell them for about 100 dollars since we are friends is this worth the price and would i increase any HP?

Last is i heard Turbo is the way to go with the LS i would have to Redo the Auto trans to make it stronger, redo the pistions, internals, rods. (Check for licks) Buy a turbo kit 8PSI is max legal here... so that is what i would do. I want my car to be a bad ass Auto Turbo

With all these Mods, Turbo, Short ram, header, cat back, new pistions, rods etc.

Would i at least get me to 180? HP

thanks guys all this would cost me about what?

Excluding Catback/Header

3,000 Turbo and then another 2,000 engine right?

Some key information to take a note of before continuing:

-Your tranny will take a shit before your engine does.
-180 whp is completely possible without even touching internals.
-Your short ram and header are useless if you turbo.
-Your friend at Autozone is a tard.
-Trying to pass an aftermarket turbo car in California is insanely difficult. Trust me, I had to deal with it.

I would say scrap the turbo idea because of your location and tranny situation and go n/a. Ls vtec gets an unreliable reputation because of idiots that can't properly build a motor and/or idiots that think that slapping on a vtec head allows them to rev to 8200 rpm. When done properly, it is very potent.

All of your questions have been covered numerous times. I recommend becoming familar with the search engine and also check out the FAQ at the top of the forum page.

I know i would have to have a company (On forum) reinforce the trans

I did search but just wanted to make sure all of this information was right...

I know 2 Turbos would pass Cali Smog at 7 PSI

1996 through 2001 model-year Acura Integras equipped with the 4 cylinder, dual over head camshaft (DOHC) V-Tec engine The Performer X Turbo Kit includes the following main parts: Garrett T-28 Turbocharger (model # GT28R for SOHC applications and model # GT28RS for DOHC applications), equipped with a waste gate set at 7 psi., an intercooler, Performer X intake manifold with four additional injectors that are controlled by a stand alone controller, exhaust manifold, and an intake air tube with an open element air cleaner attached. High pressure fuel hoses that are modified are replaced with a Gates SAE30R9 fuel hose.

Just because they have CARB EO numbers doesn't mean they will pass smog. My setup was completely legal but I still had to pay to have it smogged illegally because any legitimate smog place just popped the hood and laughed. They won't bother to run the CARB EO numbers.

The fine is so hefty for passing an illegally modified car that they won't even fuck with it.

can you explain this to me? How is it illegally modified if all the parts are legal? That is what i dont understand....

What work would i have to do to get at least 180HP without a turbo wouldn't that be impossible/really hard without a turbo...

to get at least 180hp aftermarket cams, port & polished head, bore the block to 84mm, get high compression piston (84mm) and bolt-ons

trade in your Ls for a gsr

whoever told you an Ls/vtec is not reliable is "uninformed"

i have a friend with an ls/vtec going on 50,000 miles "no problems"

and what Schmoo, FooD2000 are trying to tell you is even though they have "CARB EO Numbers" on the turbo kits.

In california it's going to be a pain in the ass to smog the thing

TURBO is not for you, u are going to create a big problem for yourself, unless u want to swap from auto to manuel, don't even bother looking into turbo....

No body unless via hook up will smog your car PERIOD... i was with schmoo when we went to get his car smogged, they poped the hood and where like we won't smog this... and his kit has the Carb Exempt number. I too also had a turbo on my gsr, and there is no way i would pass even though i had a crab exempt turbo kit..

lastly stop tryin to be ricer boy and take moment to do research! lots of it, when ut hink u have done enough, read 10 times more... u just got your car, start with small things like suspension first, drive it, learn how to drive it, enjoy it.. i mean hell u wen't over a center divide not to long ago with a stock auto LS, what the helll u going to do when u are droppen some major power....

take my advice with a grain of salt, u will be better for it

none of that is necessary for 180whp from an ls. crower 404 cams and valvetrain, p30 pistons, balanced crank, good bolt on's, and decent tuning will get you pretty damn close.
