well for our car's that is not true, u actually have to cut out the old projector, and actually replace it with an HID projector, so once u do it there is no going back to your stock set up...

where i had my done: www.customlightz.com

and another good source is www.hidplanet.com (i believe)

so gssr your saying that even if you are using the oem (real deal) ballasts, bulbs and ignitors, if you dont swap out the projector itself, the lighting will suffer? i have a teg that i havent picked up yet, and the owner said he put a real s2000 hid kit in it. i am assuming he only put the actual bulbs and ballasts from an s2k, not the projectors. i have a set of audi A6 projectors that i was going to retrofit into my old legend but never did, so would i be much better off swapping those projectors in even tho the bulbs and ballasts arent from a cheap bite off kit?

yup! casue before i had the retrofit done, i had a plug and play kit, with phillips bulbs, and phillips ballast (very expensive, high end kit) but it wasn't even comparable, and audi projectors are one of the worst just FYI, i would go TSX if u don't feel like spending a grip for s2k

from that picture the projector is not your only problem, there is like no light coming out of those things.

so what do you suggest i do? if he did just put the s2k bulbs and ballast, and not the s2k projector, should i just retrofit the A6 projector only into the headlight case, or am i going to have to get a whole new kit to fit the A6 projector housing? the things i am not sure about are the type of bulbs that will fit each projector housing.

Well if its an a6 projector it is a d2s bulb application, which is the same as s2k , so i don't know how u would have that bulb applicatoin in a stock teggy housing casue the bulb dosen't fit, sounds too me like u have a plug and play kit, with a rebased bulb...

well when i bought the A6 projectors, i wasnt well informed on optics from these things, so i just went by oncoming traffic visuals. everytime i saw a pretty looking set of headlights coming at me i would break my neck to see what car it was, and for me the nicest oncoming projection happened to come from audi a6's specifically, so thats what i got. i know they cant be horrible, so for times sake, im going to stick with them. as for bulb type, if the kid just has rebased bulbs, i can retrofit the a6 projector and then just buy the regular d2s bulbs? are all d2s bulbs based the same? i thought that was just the type of bulb (aka reflector or projector type), and 9006, 9007 etc. were the base types. anyway, im just going to wait till i get the car, and see what he did for myself. thanks and sorry for all the questions
