Default Yet another Vtec question

I recently fixed and hooked up vtec on my car, and after a while I decided to see if it would hit vtec. I was dissapointed. I thought that with my mods I would at least be able to FEEL when it hits. I have dc 4-1 header, SRI, 2.5 inch exhaust piping w/ stock muffler (need to change that h, ITR cams, ITR dual springs (not that it would matter in this case), and Ferrea valves (same compression as stock I think)... I can slightly hear the sound of the motor changing but thats it. I've driven other integras and a prelude and it was different (at least the prelude vtec you can really tell when it hits). So since I can't really feel the difference, what is the difference between lets say my motor w/ vtec unplugged and with vtec working?

I know there have been similar topics before, but hey at least I spelled vtec right .

lol i'll give ya the correct spelling boost but really the whole point of vtec is not really to feel it. I mean yeah I can hear a difference when vtec kicks in and feel a slight difference in first and second but the whole point is for vtec to smoothly engage and disengage, but the true difference is give or take around 25hp

You should feel the VTEC kick in no matter what! If you don't then Either your

Low on oil
VTEC filter is clogged
Check those things first.

if you're feeling vtec x-over you have a shitty tune. you should only hear it if even that. vtec should be a smooth transition from the low cam to the high cam. if on a dyno, the hp curve should be smooth all the way up to the rev limit.

Its the stock muffler killing it. I fist did my b16 swap I ran it open header and vtec screamed. This however was way to loud for every day. I bolted the whole exhaust up and could barely hear it kick in. Then took off the axel back off and the car sounds good. Still awaiting new exahust

Thanx guys. I can barely hear it kick in. And yea it probably is the stock muffler, I'll be getting something else as soon as I get some $$

if unplugged the engine would fall on it's face where vtec would normally engage
