Default racing clutch

Are you supposed to hear a racing clutch? It whisltes when shifting but when I was parking I had it in neutral and it sounded like soft whining. Is that a sign of something or just noise?

What kind of clutch? I've never heard one whistle. Mabye its your intake?

I heard an old civic hatch with a bad throwout bearing, but it was more of a scratching sound than a whistle.

Thats what it sounds like, the intake. I never heard of a clutch whisling either. I'm not sure what kind of clutch it is. Is the clutch supposed to make any sound at all? It's not grinding and the people I let drive it says it's ok. I tend to worry about shit too much. I think(hope) that if there was a real problem I would be able to tell, no?

The clutch shouldn't make noise at all. I hear that certain intakes whistle on our cars.

To check for slippage:
Cruise in second gear until about 4500 rpms, then shift to fifth and floor it. If you're tach increases without effecting speed, your clutch is slipping.

I have the ACT HDSS clutch and I replaced my throwout bearing with the one provided...it now whines whenever the clutch is not engauged. go with OEM throw out bearing.

I agree. The one ACT provides is junk. Mine started squeeking a couple months after I installed it.

Aftermarket throwout bearings are junk?

I'm glad I ran across this, I bought the exedy kit. Have not mounted the tranny yet, do you guys recomend I get an OEM instead of the one supplied?
