Default Clutch Engaging Point

My clutch on 94 GSR engages really, I mean really, high. I'd say 3/4 of a complete release. Is it a sign of worn out clutch? Is the engaging point of the hydraulic clutch gets lower or higher as it wears? BTW, the clutch functions normal with smooth shift and no weird noise. The only noise is a grinding when in reverse and coast slowly in first. Is it normal?

Anyone? Just don't want to replace an expensive part that is still working OK. Thanx for the info.

I think thats pretty normal, it happened on my 95 GSR, and I drove my friends 2000 GSR and it did the exact same thing.

my 91ls with a cable clutch does the same

The takeup point isn't anything out of the ordinary. But what do you mean by this grinding noise? Is it an actual grinding, or more of a whining? The way you describe it leaves me mildly concerned.

If the car slows down in first, the noise is more like whining. But the reverse is different, there is definitely clicking and rubbing in addition to the whining.

you can bleed your clutch and adjust the height of the peddle. BUt usually if the clutch starts to engage far out (when you let out the clutch) you might have a worn out disc.
