Default Clutch Engaging Point

My clutch on 94 GSR engages really, I mean really, high. I'd say 3/4 of a complete release. Is it a sign of worn out clutch? Is the engaging point of the hydraulic clutch gets lower or higher as it wears? BTW, the clutch functions normal with smooth shift and no weird noise. The only noise is a grinding when in reverse and coast slowly in first. Is it normal?
