Default '98 GSR -- should I buy this car?

Hey everyone -- first time poster here. Currently a '00 Civic owner, considering buying the car below from a friend of a friend in a nearby town.

Based on all the goodies and all the amazing work this gentleman put into this car, should I buy it? If so, how much should I be willing to pay for it? I've got a firm price desired from him, but I wanted to ask y'all first. The exterior is perfect, it has never been boosted or nitrous-shot, and it is just beautiful. With the mods, it currently pulls about ~160hp at the wheels on the dyno.

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!
Wizzy

Default In case you wanted to see pics

Here are some pics of this beautiful ride:

SO, what do y'all think? How much is a fair price? He is selling because of a new baby in his family, and I would like to be fair to him.

Yes, he installed the LSD, and did everything else himself at the Shop where he works. He seems to have replaced everything, some of it seemingly for fun. He has receipts for everything.

He is a great guy -- he talked about "his baby" for over an hour -- it's killing him to sell it.

Asking price is $8500.

If you like what's been done, then it is a fair price, allowing for some haggling. If not, then it would be easier and cheaper to start with a stock base and install what you really want.

He is selling it because his wife just had another baby and he is buying a 4 door Integra (JDM engine) to fit the baby's car seat and toddler's booster seat.

I would look to blue book value. It is well known that no matter WTF you do to your car to increase performance, it just hurts the overall value. You never get back what you put in and it sounds like he is trying to get back some of what he put in, which is cool, but he cannot expect to get that.
