Default What cams can I run?

I have a 94 gsr motor and the head is mildly built. I have ITR dual valve springs and retainers, ferrea valves and I was wondering if I can use stage 2 cams safely??

Personally, I wouldn't run anything more aggressive than stock ITR cam's with that setup. ITR & GSR Retainers are the same. You're limited by the amount of lift your valve springs can support. What are there specs on theese "stage 2" cams? Is the head milled? CR?

Theese websites really helped me understand the physics of a head. I think they came from another thread. The last one has proven test results.

No problem, glad I could help.

I'm also in the process of choosing my valveterain. I think this has challenged me more than peicing together a turbo setup.

I agree...but by the time I am done with the suspension, 5 lug, and JDM front end conversion there may be something different out there so I stopped worrying. At this point though I Was going to go with a complete TODA head with most likely the Spec C's.

Yep, you got some money tied up there. I'll get to work on that stuff later. For now my car appears stock, other than wheels & suspension.

There are so many possibilities for headwork. I just rebuilt my bottom end with forged internals, purchased everything for a turbo setup & am STILL trying to choose head components. With my lower compression pistons, im thinking that ITR cams are best.

I've been reading stories that titanium retainers are un-reliable & wear extremely fast. Omni-Power claims that there valve springs keep seat pressure close to stock ITR valve springs, thus reducing wear on their retainers. Im considering there setup or Supertech.

The main key is that everything works well together. IE Aggressive Cam's don't make significant power with stock compression pistons. It also doesnt help if your powerband exceeds the limits of your internals. And valvesprings with to much pressure will result in premature cam lobe wear.
