Im kinda skeptical of SS brake lines. The real reason race cars get them is to prevent track debris from cutting a line. Most people get them for the bling factor and people say that they make the brakes feel stiffer. but I don't think that has anyhting to do with the SS. The line is still a rubber hose with a loose stainless steel braid around it. It may be a higher quality hose so that will improve the brake feel but I don't think the SS has any affect on that. and they won't help at all with brakes fade, that has nothing to do with the lines.

the manufacturer's claim that the lines tendency to not expland as much as a rubber line is what cuts down on that squishy pedal feel you get when the brakes heat up, which is what you feel during fade.... whether or not thats bullshit i dont know, but if you think about it when you take a rubber line and wrap it in a steel sleve its gotta reduce the the hoses ability to expand. after all it is what they use in hydraulic lines for the same reason (with an additional rubber coating on the outside to protect it from the elements). i dunno, bottom line is that i already have them, and if they fit, why not put them on? id feel better about knowing i have new brake lines anyways.

I don't know about them on cars, but on motorcycles they are very noticeable.

Actually the inside of most ss brakes lines are a teflon tube. This is resistant to expansion and the reason why they feel firmer. You are correct that the ss is mainly for abrasion resistance. They will not help with brake fade but they will make a big difference in the feel which makes the car easier to modulate.

Here is a report that I found. I know its from a manufacturer but it does show there is a measureable difference between the two.
