My Haynes says that the PCV valve is in the crankcase breather chamber, but it gives no picture.

Sorry, your great photo does not help me.

I never could figure out where this valve is or how to change it!!!!

It's that thing with the arrow pointing to it that says "PCV vroke but still works". See how it passes through the hold cast into the manifold?? There's a grommet in that cast hole and the PCV valve plus into the grommet.

I Googled the pic... not mine, but I'm pretty sure that's an '89 intake manifold. Close enough if not.

High HC's. I am almost certain this would drastically improve if the stock cat and stock 02 sensor were replaced. That will give you the biggest improvement overall. Unless something else is really fucked up, however I doubt since the 89 is not that complicated.

Fortunately, I have another year before I must test emissions again! The weird thing about the high HCs is that they only happen at low speed or idle.

That is when they place the load.

Sorry. In CA they put the car on a dyno and place a load on it at lower rpms in-order to simulate an on the road situation where your car is likely to emit emissions.

Okay, understood. Here it is just in neutral with parking brake on - one at idle and another around 2800 rpm.
