GS-R Exhaust Rattle!
I have a 99 that as soon as it heats up the exhaust rattles. I have a Greddy Evo II full cat-back but it doesnt seam like it is coming from that.
At about 2600 rpm I get a constant rattle, I thought it would be the cat heat shield so I removed that, nothing changed
Someone told me that on the back of the header there is a bolt that can rust or come loose and start to rattle. Ever heard of this?
Someone also said it could be a defective muffler and that the baffles are loose.
Just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem, and what the fix was. It is anoying the crap out of me!!!!

I have a similar problem...my exhaust makes kind of a rattle that squeaks sometimes. I think it's because the gasket between the manifold piping and the cat is wearing away. Annoying as hell...
I removed the heat shield, so thats not it..... my orig exhaust doesnt llook the best though, I am going to take it to honda today and see what they say
why not lift the car up (in a real bay that is) and hit the exhaust with the bottom of your fist till you hear it. thats what i did to my former S13 after I already had lots of bolts off. Pissed me off it was so simple.
do you still have the stock header? if it's coming from the cat area and you took off the heatshields, most likely you have the dreaded b-pipe rattle common on gsr's. replace the header and it's gone.
Honda couldnt duplicate it!! I hate when cars do something constantly until you take them in and they are completely fine.
Oh well back to sweating may ass of clay barring..... Any other suggestions let me know, I will check the header, and cat

Ding Ding Ding!!!!! That was it! I took it to a local muffler shop today that has done awesome work for me in the past, and after burning half of my clutch up putting pressure on the engine they figured out that was it. They welded the inside pipe to the outside pipe (its a ghetto fix but it works)....... Its only temporary anyway b/c the turbo is coming soon!!
