it will last as long as you want it to last provided it's built correctly and you dont drive like a jackass everywhere you go. power numbers can be anywhere from 180-250whp on a serious NA setup or higher with boost. all depending on what you wanna do with it.

b20vtecs are a lot of fun.. i had mine for about 15k miles daily driven with only a block guard and a stock gsr head with a whole bunch of boltons.. took it to 8k redline plenty of times.. it held together real well until i checked the compression and it was low in 3 cylinders.. i decided against rebuilding it and went back to a gsr block..

he probably didnt have it tuned, didnt have it built correctly, and revved the piss out of it. this is how lsvtecs and b20vtecs get bad reps. by dumbasses that dont know what they're doing.

the problem was most likely the fact that he still had the stock rotating assembly in. the rod bolts arent made to rev to 8k+

Yeah, thats right.. the Stock rod bolts are no good.. Just get some ARP Rod bolts and you should be OK.. Balancing the rotating assembly is good, but isn't absolutely necessary.. If you plan on revving past 8K i would do both..

If built right, the B20/Vtec can be as reliable as any OEM motor... I would recommend some RS Machine Cast Pistons in 84.5mm... Alot of people are making 220+ whp with them..

If you go B20 Vtec would you want to sell your gsr tranny. Good luck with the build
