b20/vtec
i have a 92 teg gsr and just bought a b20 motor i want to make a ls/vtec but i was wonder how good the stock b20 block will hold up and for how long and if any one knows what kind of power it would make let me know
it will last as long as you want it to last provided it's built correctly and you dont drive like a jackass everywhere you go. power numbers can be anywhere from 180-250whp on a serious NA setup or higher with boost. all depending on what you wanna do with it.
well it is a stock b20 block and one of my friends told me that his friend did the same thing and w/ in 2 week(normal driving a few races) he threw a rod or somehting i just dont wanna speend all this money then have the shit brake in a week or and me be out all that money
and it is all being put together by a cefitfied technition

b20vtecs are a lot of fun.. i had mine for about 15k miles daily driven with only a block guard and a stock gsr head with a whole bunch of boltons.. took it to 8k redline plenty of times.. it held together real well until i checked the compression and it was low in 3 cylinders.. i decided against rebuilding it and went back to a gsr block..

If built right, the B20/Vtec can be as reliable as any OEM motor... I would recommend some RS Machine Cast Pistons in 84.5mm... Alot of people are making 220+ whp with them..
