Default Question on short shifter

I have B & M short shifter, you know the one that rattles real bad. Well my question is i just got a new jdm type r gunmetal shift knob and i threaded it down as far as it would go, there are still threads showing on the shifter and the boot is not tall enought to cover that and some of the shifter, is there a solution to this? Thanks

i know it sounds stupid but you could either get a boot thats a little taller, or maybe cut the shifter down a bit. that may fuck up the threads at the top, but it should be ok.

I've got the skunk2 short shifter and there's the same issue. I just decided it didn't really matter and left it alone.
