$1250? Are you sure you heard them right? Thats pretty steep. The dealer I work for is like half that and they do the water pump......

they made me talk to the manager so i'm betting he shot the price up on it. but honestly, with the fuckup they had last time i should just hold it over their head, theres no going to another dealer cause the other one sucks even more

(they replaced my ecu with an LS ecu, held my car for 2 months trying to figure out whats wrong with it, i got left with an extra 600 dollar rental bill and i was the only one who noticed the mistake--they even ran the car through all the diag tests and no one noticed it was the wrong ECU.)

I just went to the acura dealership in indianapolis yesterday and bought a few parts (new valve cover gasket b/c i am getting mine powder coated) and i went to set up an appointment to get mine done next week. After they put it into the system i asked how much and they told me $1100 plus tax. So i called up the local honda dealership and they said they would do the timing belt and water pump for $660 for me. So i called back acura to tell them no thx b/c i knew they were way over priced and i got the service manager when i called and she was like what the heck, we should have never quoted you that high. So she talked to a few people at her shop and called me back and matched honda's price to get the timing belt and water pump done. But it's a shame how much the dealership likes to try to take advantage of 18 year old kids. It's just a timing belt i don't want to be responsible if it slips off or breaks shortly after i installed it so i figured might as well have the dealership do it just for the added insurance of its their fault if they fuck up.

wellt he problem is that the 90k serivce isn't so terrible on the 94-99's, in 00 they upped the timing belt and water pump to the 105k serivce.

this means that basically the only thing that they don't check for the 105k service is the air filter.

for just the timing belt and water pump it'd be around 700, but i figure if they are goign to have the car sitting there, and i'm going to take off work anyway, i might as well have them do the entire service so if i go to sell the car i can say it had it's complete tune up at the dealership.
