Default Odd Engine Hesitation...

i have a 94 gsr with catback, header and testpipe...anyway after the engine has cooled completely, after restarting and traveling down my block accelerating slowly, i get an odd hesitation at around 2500 or 3000 rpms while accelerating...if i hit the gas pedal a little harder it will move on and accelerate normally and after that initial 'hiccup' it runs fine..as to describe the hesitation: it seems as tho the car is backfiring rapidly and my bro says that it sounds like a rev limiter as i go down the block...i really dunno where to start, i get a check engine light occasionally but not all the time...any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated...thanx in advance

usually when you change the spark plugs, you also change the spark plug wires....at least that is what i do

try changing those first....

i honestly dont think that this problem has anything to do with spark plug wires, especially since it ONLY occurs when the engine is cold when i first start out...but yur right, i need to do those anyway...thanx for the adivice, anything else would be appreicated

Do a compression test on the motor whenever you get a couple of minutes. My old 95 GSR did that, and when I did the comp test, my cyllinders were doing 200 psi (good), except for one, which was doing 120 (very bad). Find out your compression, and go from there.

The compression is good on his motor, It seems to be the injectors, it is almost a 'lack of fuel' stutter, we'll check it out!
