Philosophical question
I'm looking for some opinions. My daughter drives a 91 teg that she loves. It has ~135K miles and still runs like a top. A few weeks back she rear-ended another car and did some minor damage to the front end. I replaced the hood and broken headlights but it could still use some professional body work and a paint job.
At what point do you say the money would be best spent on a newer car? Any ideas?
I'm concerned that I'm too emotionally involved in "restoring" this car and possibly not doing the practical thing.

i have a 90 ls and i bought mine from the original owner 2 yrs ago, i myself have invested close to if not more $3000 into my teg and to me it is worth every penny...if its paid for its that much easier to fix when it has sentimental value rather than actual value or at least thats how i see it it makes it all that more while i say keep it and make you and your daughters investment together it will bring you that much closer.....
Do a financial evaluation. Figure out how much it will cost to keep. Then figure out how much it will cost to get rid of and buy another one. Then after looking at the numbers ask yourself if you are willing to keep it.
I would have to say it all depends on how much work you've done to the car in the past. If the engine is in top notch condition then that car will last you for a long time since it only has 135k miles. I had an 89 accord that had over 250k miles on it and ran like a champ, but it was well taken care of.
