My radiator is now leaking in my '00 LS and its not the original. How can I tell if its SHOWA or Denso type?

Its most likely a showa. I have seen many 2000 ls's(autos and spds) and they all have been showa.

If you need a temp fix until you can get a new one, you MIGHT be able to glue the plastic with jb-weld. You can find it in the paint dept. at Home Depot or in an auto parts store.

I am not sure if the acura radiator is brass or aluminum but you can also solder brass and will not leak. I think the radiator is aluminum though (Vpuppy will know).

If it is brass, you can pinch off the row that is leaking with a pair of side cutters (wire cutters) and solder both ends with a propane torch. I soldered my aluminum AC line last week and I got lucky because I did not think it would stick to aluminum.

Here is a link of someone fixing a brass tank http://www.muggyweld.com/1clip11.html. You can do the same with the rows that run vertically.

Here is another article http://www.arrowheadradiator.com/Rad...nt_%20Tips.htm <--- I guess you can solder aluminum :)

Our radiators are aluminum cores with plastic end caps. The JB weld thing is more of a temp fix. Some have tried but it usually ends up leaking in the same place.

Thats some great repair info, but I don't think I want to tackle repairing my radiator myself. I drive 100 miles a day in that car so I don't want to risk another overheating incident. Luckily, I'm carpooling to work right now. I think I'm just going to buy a KOYO replacement off ebay. I'm going to order a SHOWA, hopefully its the right one.

I just ordered an all aluminum radiator from http://www.completeradiators.com for $183.60 shipped. I talked to John and he also gave me the stant part number for the cap which is 10233. I am very impressed with the customer service!!!!!!

I originally found their site on ebay. This link might work:

Their seller name on ebay is completeradiatorshttp://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gif

John from completeradiatorshttp://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gif also called me to inform me that the radiator would be shipped from a location closer to my house. Therefore, it will arrive one day early. Great customer service!

The radiator has one row and says "TransPro" on the box.
