I replaced my OEM radiator with one from Track Auto or Super Trac at 135,000 miles because the OEM was cracked, but it is not cooling as well as the OEM radiator. I have seen a few different brands on ebay. Is there a radiator that will cool as good as the OEM radiator? I don't want to go to the dealer.

As you can see from my other post, I have 216,000 miles and I am trying to keep my gsr going because it is such a great car!

I have only had to replace 2 wheel bearings and the throw out bearing. I also replaced the clutch at 186,000 miles but it was only 1/2 worn!

I love this car!

You can pick up a factory re-man. for about 150 in most places. Call some shops and find out.

Did you end up finding a place with a reman radiator? Mine has a crack on the upper plastic part housing the radiator cap. It is just on the line.

No, I have not found one yet. I jsut called Pohanka Acura in Virginia and they told me that they would sell me a new one for $380.

I also need to change my water pump and timing belt tonight because the pump is leaking. I changed it at 135K mile and now it needs it again at 216K. I wanted to change everything at once.

I am wondering if I should buy a new car

Its been about 1.5 years and its held up well. I got the oem replacement with the plastic end caps.

Does the koyo cool as good as the OEM? My temp. guage use to sit at 1/4 of the way from the left and now it is sitting 1/3 of the way from the left with a cheap radiator. I guess it is running 15 - 20 degrees hotter? So I want to change it when I change the water pump.

I have noticed showa and denso when looking at radiators. I have a 96 gsr. How can I determine if I have a denso or showa? I think Denso makes good electrical parts but I don't know what they are referring to on the radiator.

I have also seen the all aluminum radiators for $300 which is part # R1741.

Now this makes me think. I believe I can get 3 miles more per gallon if I add a header but a header will create more heat under the hood (but I dont want a loud exhaust). Hmmm, so would the all aluminum koyo radiator be worth it because they advertise 20 - 30% more cooling?

So many things to consider

Your original radiator should have said SHOWA or Denso. Koyo is a well known radiator replacement company. Just make sure you have warranty and your good to go. What kind of thermostat did you put in? Was it OEM?
