b18c or b18c type r???
i am planning to put a b18c engine on my 1998 honda civic but i dont know which one to put (type r) and which is more better in a drag race? and are type r engines worth buying for?
first off this should go in either the civic forum or hybrid forum.
secondly the stock specs speak for themselves. b18c5 is gonna be more money but your definetly going to get an improvement in performance, thats why it is more. first thing u have to decide is to plan on doing just basic bolt ons or are you going to be upping your compression, doing block work, head work? if your going to go stock motor with bolt-on upgrades then buy the type-r motor...more hp, more torque, higher comp. if you plan on doin some major work well the b18c1 would be the way to go because obviously your going to be ripping it down to a bare block and starting with nothing.

ya u just have to think....stock vs stock the type-r is way better. and obviously your only doing bolt ons....so type r is gonna be a better base.
although i didnt think of this till now but i think you will find more aftermarket parts for the b18c1, and correct me if im wrong but they might even be less expensive

ugh.
get a C1 the head design is better (arguable, but many will agree on that one) and it's cheaper.
the c5 or "type-r" as you call it is too expensive for the gains you are getting, just get a c1 and be happy with it, trust me you wont miss the extra 30 horsepower when you are down and extra thousand that could have been spent on a turbo kit that vields gains way past that of the type-r
