It can. This whole thread's a pity party.

Any Bseries tranny will work and 'load' has nothing to do with it. Additionally, wth are you talking about with the throwout bearing? That's part of the clutch assemply, not the tranny. Look around, you can find a bseries tranny within your budget and, God forbid, you might have to take the time and get the tools to do the job. I'm sure you can find a friend that has some tools...

Pick yourself up and fix your car. If you truely love it that much, you'd find a way...

btw, how do you know the tranny went out anyway? What are the symptoms?

Good, because I was like, people turbo their LS's all the time and the tranny holds up fine.

uhm. okay. FACT: I don't give a flyin' fuck about what anyone has to think about my level of commitment to my car.

That aside... I'd like to point out one more thing:
God forbid, you might have to take the time and get the tools to do the job. I'm sure you can find a friend that has some tools...
You dumb shit. Did I or did I not CLEARLY state that I have not the skill NOR the tools to do the job. Even if I found the tools, it would be better if I melted them down and threw the resulting lump of steel at the transmission rather than open it up and and ask ninety questions on the forums over a course of a week. I work for a living. I need a car on the road, not in a garage.

I gave in to my love for Integras

So in the end... I took out a $2000 loan and ordered the proper SiR-G trans from Japan to properly handle the torque of the motor. And to all you DIY'ers that felt the need to flame me and question my decision: I hired someone to do it. It's called a 3yr/36k mi warrantee (yes! for a third party trans!)... And that beats a DIY job any day of the week.

Final cost: $1750. $750 for the trans + shipping, $550 for labor, $300 for a new clutch, and the leftover $150 is for beer and cheesesteaks all around when it's done.

They're gonna rip open the trans when it gets here, rebuild it with all new internals, and slap that bad boy up in there. Make it right, make it tight.

Excellent choice. I still think that you put entirely too much money into the labor and you can swap a clutch/tranny in a few hours doing it yourself, but at least you didn't go to the extreme of selling the car just because of the tranny. You never did explain the symptoms of your problems with your previous tranny. What makes you think it went out? What was it doing?

For future reference, here's how you swap your clutch and tranny: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...d.php?t=139802

you just spent 750$ on a tranny only to have somebody take it apart and rebuild it? why not save the 750 and have them do that with your current tranny?

you're taking one in every oriface you have. quite frankly, i feel bad for you. its unfortunate that you aren't using your resources.

It's the throw out bearing. On top of that, I forced it to get me to work and back for three days. That caused breakage with some hard parts.

I'm paying $750 for a 3 year 36 month guarantee as well as BRAND NEW internals inside a used casing. Also paying for the transmission that came stock (in Jap.) with my motor.

Cost to have my current trans rebuilt (90 day warantee): $600
Cost for PROPER trans and all new internals (36mo warantee): $750

...makes sense to me. Also, both of those prices include a new clutch assembly and resurfacing the flywheel. (conidering a clutch alone is roughly $300, I'm not making out TOO bad).

There are VERY few DIY transmission rebuilders. I am certainly NOT getting into that ...

Initial symptoms included jumpy third gear... hardly noticeable.
Second clue was difficulty switching out of gears.
Next came problems switching into gears.
Next problem was the clutch not fully disengaging (required throttle push to switch out/switch in to gear)
Lastly was a full lockup in first gear. Turning the key forward resulting in the car surging forward even with the clutch down with the added inability of not being able to get to second.

Upon inspection it turned out to be the throw out bearing causing initial problems with clutch disengagement (particularly noticeable.. driving in second, switch to third, release clutch, feel a jerk), and me causing the rest of the problems. I'm almost positive that it simply could not handle 90-120mph to and from work (40 mi highway, 15mi with 9 lights).

..But I couldn't go through with it. I just couldn't sell it. I always promised her I'd garage her someday and make her a project when I was in a good financial position.
