P = passenger tire
205 = tread width in mm
55 = aspect ratio, basically a percantage of the tread width, so your sidewalls are about 113 mm tall, which is 55% of 205. The lower this number, the lower the profile relative to the tread width.
R16 = 16 inch wheel/rim
89 = load rating, can be looked up in a table
H = speed rating, can be looked up in a table

So if you want something more low profile, get something with a lower aspect ratio.

Whoever sold you your tires didn't match the OEM rolling circumference.
Your speedo and odometer have been reading low as a result of the oversized tire.

The correct profile for a 16" rim is 205 / 45 R16.

As far a specific tires go, I'd take a long look at the BFGoodrich Traction Z.
I bought a set after New Year's and I'm very impressed.

I posted a thread about this topic just after New Year's; in it, I was debating which tires to choose for the Teg. Search for it and you'll learn more about the tires and my selection criteria.

Tell me you're joking. Please. :eek3:

No, you do not have to replace the ECU.

The ECU doesn't give a damn what size your wheels actually are. To calculate your speed in MPH, the ECU just counts axle RPM based on the original wheel / tire circumference. It knows that in one revolution of the axles, the car moves forward by a specific amount.

So, if the rim gets larger, the sidewalls of the tire have to get smaller to maintain the same circumference as the original wheels.

But if the circumference is larger than stock, the speedometer will read low because the wheel RPM is lower. Conversely, with an undersized circumference, the speedo will read high. Just remember that at the same speed a bigger wheel rotates slower than a smaller wheel. :run:

The easiest way to avoid this problem is to buy the correct tire size for your rim diameter. :eek5r:

i think there are flashers as well as different units you can install to correct the speedo, but it's just an annoyance

for an integra you should be looking for something with a speed rating of at least H-- top speed 130mph, though due to real world everyday pressures i'd look for something with a V rating

as for the tire sizes, what width is the rim, i'm guessing it's 6.5 or 7 inch, which would require as dave said a 205/45-R16, the service number you want should be 86+ with a H,V or possibly W rating, Y tires are too much for an integra

haha. no, i however if your oem wheel is a 13" steel wheel and you put 18" chromies on it, it will play a role on your speedmoter.
