Default Possible vacuum leak

I installed an Autometer vac/boost gauge which was reading 12 in. Hg at idle (which I thought was low in the first place). The gauge readings have been steadily decreasing all the way down to 6 in. Hg. I've noticed that my PCV valve doesn't click when the vac line is pinched. I'm not for certain if the Oem pcv valve is the problem because it's only like three months old.

Bump...

my .02 try replacing the pcv valve again just to see what happens, it doesn't cost much at all and could fix the problem.

Well I replaced the PCV valve and I didn't notice a difference. I have no idea what the problem is (a clog maybe). It looks like a leak according to the gauge but the car drives fine. I'm running the GE vac manifold off the brake booster.

If there's a problem with the nylon tubing behind the gauge I'm going to be pissed.

Check to make sure the hose isn't kinked and that you haven't overtightened the brass fittings that crush the hose into the gauge. Mine idles at 21 in/hg, so you have a problem somewhere.

Damn you know I got to thinking. Does it matter where you splice into the brake booster vac line? I bet that's it, I was supposed to splice before the check valve.

There is your problem. It needs to be cut between the check valve and manifold.

Well I purchased a new hose and spliced before the check valve. To my surprise the gauge reads "0" at idle. Oh my god, I'm super frustrated.

So I splice the other booster hose in the middle and now no matter how I put on the hose from the vac manifold it ends up with kinks in it. The new hose I purchased flattens out when I turned my car on, wtf lol.

The moral of this story is that I suck.

Was I suppose to somehow seal the nylon hose behind the gauge and on the brass fitting of the vac manifold? I just lightly tightened the fitting behind the gauge then slipped the nylon tubing in. Man when I first installed it, it was working fine.
