Hks Ssqv?
Sorry, no idea where I "should" have posted this so if its wrong, please move it.
Im serching for a BOV for my turbo b18b setup. Im not sure the turbo ill be using yet, so I dont really know what BOV ill be using. I currently have a friend with a RFL BOV that I can snag, but after hearing some sound clips its not really what im looking for. I kinda prefer that "chirp" instead. I started to read about the HKS SSQ and SSQV BOV's. Im interested, because from what I understand they dont leak at idle like normal blow off valves correct?
Any input on yes or no for this? Anyone actually have one on their integra? I searched street-fire and only found clips on wrx's and srt-4's running high boost, i probably wont be above 10psi and would like it to be somewhat knoticable unlike my friend with a sr20det and a turbo xs (not sure model) which you really cant hear unless the hood is off.

GSSR has one on his integra. To be honest, it sucks. It compressor surges at low boost/vacuum and doesn't make enough noise at high boost.
All I have to say is mine > GSSR's. If you have the Greddy Type-S hooked up correctly, you can eliminate any compressor surge and tighten it down so it doesn't leak at idle.

agreed schmoo is a hell of a lot nicer then mine, i am thinkin about switching to a Blitz one, cause i am not really happy with it at all, there is a lot of compression surge at low boost as schmoo said
I LOVED my SSQ. I don't know what you guys are talking about with the sounds and surging. Maybe you don't have it adjusted correctly. :dunno:
I'll have to find my +/- 300 whp dyno run where you can hear it blowoff. At 12psi, it sounded sweet. At 23 psi, it was sick! :irock:
I highly recommend the HKS SSQ.

I remember how sick yours sounded on that dyno video. Unfortunately, it is hard to drive around in that much boost all the time to avoid compressor surge.
Im still up in the air about a BOV in this case. I was a little concerned because I thought with my little boost ill be doing that I prob wouldnt use it to full potential.
Any one care to reccomend any other blow off valves? Im really partial to the "chirp" sound instead of the dump that my friends turbo xs does. Schmoo how does your Greddy sound? At 11 or 10 PSI?

If not, that's retarded. Are you sure it's real HKS? :lmao:
The Greddy S-Type (I believe is what it's called) is ok. It's super chirpy and all the ones I experienced never shut up. They were always wheezing and sighing regarless of what you were doing. I still say SSQ, but get the one with the adjuster on the back. It's just a bolt and it allows you to release tension on the diaphram so that you don't experience the compressor surge Schmoo and GSSR are speaking of.
I'm still skeptical of this nonadjustability thing... just stupid...

Yeah, it is not adjustable. I will have David take some pics of it to show that they have eliminated the adjustment screw. But an adjustable one would work better I would assume.
My Type S isn't really chirpy. Ever since I hooked up the second vacuum assist hose and tightened the adjustment screw, it no longer leaks at idle and makes whistling noises when shifting into neutral.
