Default Changing the final gear of a GSR to LS

A few people have said that its a good idea to take the final gear froma LS and put it in my GSR..........WHY is what id like to know. All they say is....well thats what i heard. Does this gear give you better top end, AND how hard is this to do....anything else imight need? thanks
ps-its a 95gsr

Unless you have experience building trannies, then go ahead and throw that LS final drive into your GSR tranny.
The LS final drive is longer than the GSR final drive, this makes it more fuel efficient because the revs arent going to be as high in top gear traveling at a given speed. In essence, yes you will have a higher top speed, but it will also take longer to reach it.

There is no difference in fuel economy between the LS and GSR 5th gear. Anyone saying otherwise is talking from their ass.

i say just leave it, i think the reason people say it'll be more fuel economic is that instead of being at 4000 rpm at 80 mph (used as an example) you would be around 3400-3600 rpm. just my .02 cents

Throttle position is more of a factor than RPM in gas mileage. Since the throttle position remains the same, gas mileage pretty much remains the same.

The mod is so not worth it. You won't save enough in gas to make it worthwhile...and if you want some balls in 5th gear on the highway, you won't have any.
