im going to put on my gaskets tonite and was wondering if i need to prep them in any way. like with oil, hondadbond, etc.
they are the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and 4 spark plug gaskets.
i have some generic hondabond from a parts store that im gonna use. i know i need this on the valve cover gasket(BTW how muchand where, all around?) but do i need this on the oil gasket? do i prep them with oil?

 

Put some hondabond on the corners of where the gasket seals. Other than that, the gaskets can go on dry.

 

so just the corners then. not all the way or on the cam humps?

 

Just the sharp corners.

 

On paper gaskets I always rubbed a little oil on them.

The rubber ones you're installing should be installed exactly as Shmoo has explained: hondabond/RTV on the sharp corners like in the edges around the cam hump(s) on the head and crank hump(s) on the oil pan.

On the intake manifold gasket especially, you want to coat it with a little oil since it is made of cork and will stick to the head and manifold after some time.

 

lol i cant even get the old one off. ive broken about 5 blades trying to do it. SUX

 

I had to use a dremel and gently sand it off. Most of it was stuck to the head, but it was off already.
