Default car running poorly

I'm having an issue with my '94 gsr. The car seems to run ok for a short while when it isn't up to operating temp, but after driving for a bit, it feels like it bogs down. This mainly happens after I drive on the highway to school, and then get off downtown. My car no longer goes into vtec at this point. My car doesn't throw any new codes that it wasn't already throwing when I started driving and it's been like 30's and 40's here, so it hasn't exactly been warm enough out for the car to overheat. Any ideas what the problem could be?

well you can start off by thinking of the basics .... fuel/ignition... have u checked plugs/wires/distr lately?

also it could just be a clogged fuel filter when was the last time you changed it?..

clogged injectors?

i'd check those and see what you come up with

i replaced the plugs about 4 months ago...probably couldn't hurt to replace them since I recently Seafoamed the engine.

I replaced the wires with NGK blues last summer.

I got a new cap and rotor but haven't had a chance to put them on yet.

I replaced the fuel filter about a year ago.

I don't really see how the injectors could be clogged considering the amount of injector cleaners/fuel system cleaners/etc. I put in the car. Also, I try to only use 93 octane shell v-power gas. But I guess it's possible that one of them could be damaged or not working properly. It kinda feels like I'm only running on three cylinders sometime.

well pull out ur fuel filter and check it... just pull it off and blow into it... if it is fine then just pop it back on.

yeah from what i heard about the sea-foam it could destroy your plugs.

i changed my cap and rotor last night and my car runs better now ... it's nice so if you have em... it's like a 20 minute job... do it on your lunch break or something lol

good deal...so the cap/rotor combo can make a significant difference then? i know, it's probably one of the first things i should've done when tuning up the car but I just never got around to it. Any other ideas for what could be wrong? I mean, my car hasn't ever exactly run "well". It's always been riddled with all sorts of mechanical problems but this seems to be another major issue, especially since it doesn't want to engage vtec half the time, even when at operating temp.

Also, I'm throwing a code for Engine Coolant Temp Sensor. Can you give me a little more info on this? Thanks.

I had a performance problem that sounds similar to yours. Have you checked your air filter? That was my problem. My VTEC wasn't engaging either. The shop did all these fancy test on my valves and it was just a VERY dirty air filter.

Just a thought....

Thanks for the input. I replaced my air filter with a K&N only about 6 months ago, if that, so I don't think that's the culprit. Also, I ordered a new cap and rotor set from Sunnyside Acura and they sent me the wrong damn cap set so all I could replace was the rotor!

Oh yeah, I determined that I'm throwing a code for an ECT sensor so that might be the reason why the car is running like ass. Will have to replace the sensor and find out I guess.
