oil leak
I recently took my car to the acura dealer and they said my oil is leaking. it's not like dripping like crazy. i dont even see the oil on my parking spot. anyway...they put down that the oil pan gasket needs to be resealed and the cost is almost $300. should i get it resealed or would buying a new oil pan take care of it, or would i still need to get something resealed anyway? help. i dont know what to do!! haha

Buy an oem gasket and have a regular mechanic install it. Dealerships have expensive labor rates. Also, look in your local yellow pages and find the shops that specialize in working on Hondas and Acuras. Just call them all up and see what they'll call you to reseal your oil pan. Also, clean off your engine and check for other oil leaks. Sometimes the cam seals leak also.
alright. i bought a new gasket. so what now? do i just need to replace the old one? do i need gasket sealer? (whatever that is
h
what does it involve? my guess is the following:
remove oil pan
replace gasket
put oil pan back on
how's that?

2.) Take off Oil Pan
3.) Remove old gasket...I would use a paint scraper
4.) Replace with new gasket
5.) Use some gasket sealer
6.) Replace oil pan
7.) Replace Oil
You will also need to pull the A pipe back a little bit, remove the engine stiffeners, and remove the flywheel cover to get the oil pan off...assuming you have a GSR.
Since I know you are local, I will change it for you for $50 if you aren't comfortable doing it.

as far as gasket sealer goes...is it all the same? just pick up something at pep boys? and does it go on both sides of the gasket or just one side?
