Clutch install now? DIY?
ok, well im about done with the Timing Belt and turbo is soon, as some might know......BUT i was wondering if i should just do the clutch and flywheel now.
how easy is it to install the clutch and flywheel. i was loking at it and its easy to get to since the cars apart but actually DOING the job sounds scary!!! :nervous:
i was thinking of going stage 2 with a 7.5lb flywheel.

the stage 2's say 250ish HP but i believe ill be over this So should i go stage 3? is stage 3 ok for a street car, ftrack a few times?
ALSO, if i do this now it can be done before the dyno. i know the theory behind lightened flywheels giving "HP" but does it mater for a dyno. RPM will be reached more quickly, but will it matter. If i do it now/myself it will be done b4 the dyno......if i dont do it it will be done after the dyno

I would stay away from puck disks unless you don't mind a harsh engagement for faster shifts. Look into the ACT HDSS. It should hold what your setup can throw at it. It is rated good for 243 ft/lbs and has smooth engagement with a barely stiffer than stock clutch pedal feel.

=( ok. any ideas on what a GENERAL install price should be on clutch and flywheel.......oh by the way. Anything else to buy??? I WAS thinking of LSD addition or mabye a type R tranny

I paid 350 CAD for mine, i provided all the parts. Don't forget the release (throwout) bearing if it's not included in the kit. Might as well replace it while everything is out I figure.

i JUST got mine done at a local performance shop @ 65 bucks an hr. got charged for 5.5 hrs. it was mid 3's. but they said it would be anywhere from 4-6 hrs labor. that included install on clutch, flywheel, all bearings, and rear main seal!!!

I dropped my clutch, put in a ACT HDSS, Fidanza 7.5lb flywheel and a Skunk2 SS, and luckily didn't run into any problems... with the tutorial from TI, it was pretty straight forward, the biggest time consumer was honestly just freeing rusted bolts and shit like that.. the actual process itself was pretty painless if you have the right tools.
