Gen 2 GS-R's have VTEC on the molding, and the moldings match the body color of the car. However, a lot of people paint those moldings to match, so you have to watch out.

If you pop the hood on a GS-R it should say "DOHC VTEC" I dont know what the other models say...

1.7L's are only in the Gen 2 GS-R, 1.8L's are in the other tegs.

Gen 2 GS-R's redline (along with all other GS-R's) is at 8000, RS/LS/GS are at 6500 (or around there, not sure).

GS-R's also have the LED brake light on the spoiler.

you have either a RS or LS. GS's has leather. if you have sunroof, then you definitely dont have the RS.

check the number thats stamped onto the block. it should say B17A if its the GSR, if not, then itll say B18A or B18B.

also, like redGSR said, G2 GSR's have VTEC on the side molding while all other G2 tegs say DOHC.

and check the redline on the tach. if it says 8k redline and numbers go up past 9k, then its a GSR.
if the redline appears at 6500 and numbers only go upto 8k, then its a LS or RS.

the red-line on the v-tec is 8k, not 7k. the 7k redline is for the non-vtec cars. the engine type says vtec, but the trim level says gs? i thought only the gsr had the vtec? the car is a 93, but the tag says 92? was that tag was modified, or a typo? verify the serial #'s match thru the car. & definately check on the car fax thing. this car is either pieced together, or it was modified. i'd be warry of this car. no telling what has been done to it. when the owner comes back, find out what the scope is & let us know.

Ls/Rs/Gs, all redline at 6800rpm. What you have there sounds like a Ls...

just to let u guys know...the GS-R's chasis code is DB2...the vin that was given is not for a GS-R. anyways the GS-R has the interior with the red lines in it. The engine code should say B17A1.

I think they already established that it wasn't a GSR...
