Default Problem removing alternator

I have a 1990 integra GS, and I have removed the mounting bolts and belt as well as the electrical connection, but I am having difficulty removing the alternator from the engine compartment. Any tips on where this is supposed to come out at as well as tricks to get it out of there would be very helpful. I have already also removed the mounting bracket for the alternator, as well as the tire on the drivers side trying to get it out through that hole there, but no luck.

Thanks.

you say you got all the bolts off and you can't get the alternator off? try banging it with a hammer (lightly of course) brass hammer or something.

Are you sure you got all the bolts? Belt is off? I'd take a rubber mallet and bang on it like was stated above...or maybe a long flathead screwdriver to try and pry it loose, like how you would adjust belt tension.

You are not going to like to hear this but You most drop the driverside half shaft to remove this bad boy. My boy works at a dealer ship and he told me that too. The real fun is going to get the ball joint to separate from the lower control arm. a puller will work good for this. As long as you are in there you should probadly replace all of the bushing as long as you are down there. just looking at the condition of the bushing will probadly make you sick. Have fun! It took me and a buddy abot an hour and a half to take apart and same to put back. Don't forget to get an alignment then. shit is definately going to be alkinds of out of wack.

You absolutely do not have to remove the axle in order to remove the alternator.

I did on my '92 LS, my friend's '93 GS and another's '90 whatever. In all 3 cases there was not enough room in any way, shape or form without pulling the driver's side axle & it's bearing support.

I guess maybe I'm gifted? :dunno:

BTW, the helms manual doesn't state that you have to remove the axle either.

So what's the advantage of our cars running on 3 v-belts as oppose to serpentine belt?
