So what's the advantage of our cars running on 3 v-belts as oppose to serpentine belt?
There is no advantage to v-belts. With a standard tensioner a serpentine will not slip, takes-up less room, doesn't have to be adjusted, etc. I seriously considered sourcing the brackets and such to change mine to serpentine, but a good v-belt set-up has no major shortcomings either. (at high RPM a serpentine would be less likely to slip however)
Hmm... I really hate have to adjust our v-belts set-up. I'm guessing honda did that due to fitment issues since there aren't really advantages to v-belts.
