Here is a what I think to be stock gsr 94 ecu. I just got it today. It makes my idel at 200-300 and then if I don't punch it it will blog in and out.



Where you see the red outline that chip looks burnt. I wanna know if I can replace it. Also I noticed that vtec kicks in at 4200 but I see all stock parts on this ecu. I just think it might be because if this chip it's bogging and vtec is opening at 4200.

 

Your tach is probably off, because VTEC switches cam lobes at 4400. Are the board traces burnt? If so, it's a bitch to repair. If the outlined part is blown, you can replace that...but you better be handy with a soldering gun. I'm not sure exactly what that portion controls, if anything...but the idle is usually controlled by the big chip that people replace. Does it look like an aftermarket chip is in there? You should be able to tell by looking at the bottom of the board at the solder joints.

 

That isn't an OBD1 P72. A P72 has a knock board above the area adjacent to the area a chip would go.

p72-ao1. It's a 94 gsr. It's stock. The board is fine just the chip it's self. Shmoo if you can give me the chip # and what not that would be a major help. Thanks guys. Gonna try to get this chip sometime b4 the 25th. hehe

 

You mean the chip to use Crome or Uberdata with? Go to www.moates.net and buy the uber chip kit and it will have everything you need.

I still don't believe that is a P72. It looks like a rebadged P28.

 

Just so you know, the portion that you circled and is "blown" isn't a chip...it looks like a capacitor...and I'm not sure if that particular capacitor is replaced with a chip kit. You could, however, get a replacement at an electronics store.

 

If you guys look at the outlined portion. There is a black resistor or capasitor that is the one that is fried up. Schmoo look at the left of the picture you will see the strap going to the other board this is a 94 p72-ao1. If you can open your ecu up and tell me the numbers/letters on the black resistor or capasitor That would really help me out. Thanks.

 

I know exactly what I was looking at, but you called it a chip...and it's not.

 

Yeah, I see the harness for the knock board now, but how come the board is not mounted inside the ECU?

The number on that capacitator is Q31.
