Default big problem guys...

lets start by saying that my check engine light is on and its throwing codes for an o2 sensor heater mafunction, cylinder misfires in cylinders 1,2, and 4. i was driving home about 3 days ago and the car started acting funny. it felt like i had lost some power, and it sounds really loud like i have a really bad exhaust leak but theres only a very minor leak from the muffler. it also burns ALOT of oil so a friend of mine was saying that the piston rings are probably bad and i should probably have it rebuilt. i dont know what i should do or how i would fix this. any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

* Plugs & Wires are replaced every 30K is what I remember.
* The timing belt is due every 90K miles or six years, whichever comes first.
* By coil, I'm referring to the ignition coil within the distributor. If the ignition coil is petering out at speed, that may be the source of your CEL codes.

Given what you've said, the most likely cause for your CEL codes is plug fouling due to oil burning.

Has the engine ever overheated? What about routine oil changes? My 98 LS burns less than a quart in 2500 miles, so something is up with your bottom end. It sounds like the previous owner was very hard on the car..

the engine has never overheated on me, i change the oil at about 2000 mile intervals because every time i check the level, its all burned up so i change it. do you think rebuilding the engine would fix this problem?

time to take it to the dealer and pay loads of money for a tune-up and any other fix-it work you may need done. If you arent keeping your car in shape, then it will die. Of course, you can attempt to do it all yourself, but it sounds like you will need a new engine if this problem isnt taken care of soon and fast.
