Well as a notorious "gunner" I have never ran into any problems from red-lining. I have even ran my car for hours pegged out on a cross country drive... the only thing that came out of it was 26MPG and making the pavement wrinkle! Then again, I only have 100k on my stock engine. I do know that on cold mournings, it's good to warm it up for at least 30 minutes. And it's actually good to rev up your teg every now and then, since it helps clean out your exhaust... as learned from an old crazy Irish man

 

most of my drives last 30 mins max, I dont burn any oil

 

Common effects of high/over reving...

-faster wear of rings
-faster wear of bearings
-weakening of valves
-oil comsumption
-pvc wear
-gas consumption

All I have personal experience with. Remember this all didnt happen in one day. Over time youll notice these symptoms occuring faster than if you baby a motor.

 

30 minutes to warm up your engine? Screw that. Thats way too long. My car warms up in 5-10 minutes of easy driving.

 

You don't need to warm up your engine for 30 minutes.
