Default Effects of high reving your engine?

i used to have a civic, since i gotten my gsr, I tend to rev it ....alot. I hit vtec to 8k rpms several times, during short drives (i just like gunning it). Anyone else drives it hard? notice any ill effects? BTW it has 170k (i purchased at 158k). What are some signs of engine wear due to high rpms?

Just make sure the oil is changed frequently and let the engine warm up before your full throttle runs to redline and it should be fine.

yup...what they said. My GSR has almost 170,000 miles too and it runs pretty good. I'm on my way to the dyno today to fix my a/f ratio.

It's about time, if I recall correctly there were a couple of people who told you to get that Apexi controller a while back at one of the honda-tech meets.

As far as this thread goes, the GSR motor was designed for high revs, so have fun with it.

You might burn more oil and your wallet will take a hit if you gun it everywhere =P. I'm pretty sure everyone drives their car hard every once in a while.
