in my gsr i'd have to rev match perfectly to get it into first... i think it's just designed that way so you dont pop it into first doing 70 instead of hitting 3rd or 5th

Yeah i think so too, but I still grind up the gears when shifting from first to second and second to third (But not always). Also if i redline it in third and go over to fifth gently, it grinds, which is why i think my syncros are gone.

the syncros help you get in and out of gear, your actual gears are probably in bad condition

that happened to me...what happened is the guy that redid my clutch messed up and the problem was a faulty clutch plate

The gears themselves are always intermeshed with another gear. The syncronizer is what makes them "engage" without having to double clutch.

The guy I bought my car from just put in a stage 2 clutch about 5k miles before i bought it so maybe I have the same problem that you had. Did you get it fixed and what did you do?

which is exactly why if he is crusing at 50 and he hears grinding that it is most likely not the syncros
