WD40 can lubricate my screen door so I just spray a whole can down my dipstick for every oil change.

Tranny oil is the same weight as motor oil, but because of emissions reasons oil companies are very limited in terms of what kind of additives they can put in motor oil. Tranny oils can be much more aggressive with additives because you're not going to be burning any.

Bottom line: Motor oil can do the job, but not as well. Given how infrequently you have to replace the tranny fluid, shell out the extra $5 and save your gears and synchros.

An extra $5 now could save you $hundreds later. Don't be cheap!

:a: Follow the goddamned owner's manual, for the love of Jesus Christ!

They recommend Honda Manual Transmission Fluid, not motor oil.
If you have to use motor oil, they strongly recommend switching back to Honda MTF as soon as possible.

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick........

There's MTF and ATF.

anything worth doing is worth doing right. everyone always says that hondas will run FOREVER if you just keep them properly oiled, so don't tell me you're gonna take a chance getting the only thing you have to do right, wrong.

Alright... well I agree it's definitley worth doing right the first time, which is why i've already spent like $6-700 on the stuff...

The way I was just told... was that our engines used motor oil instead of MTF...
And the people I spoke with seemed to incline that motor oil was what was expected.

"Honda" MTF will be fine for an aftermarket clutch right?

The new question is: Do you just hop down to a honda dealership to get their specific MTF? I need it by friday.
