I think this is a myth. This myth mostly comes from the fact that Exedy makes both stock replacement clutches and sports clutches. Many people who bought the cheap Exedy on Ebay got the OE replacement clutch, not the sports clutch. And so when their 300whp setup tears up the clutch they cry about how Exedy sucks.

I think for any setup under say, 250-300 whp the Exedy will be fine.

This is if he plans on making 250-300. It will take a fair amount of money to do that with an ls. Since he says hes not planning on modding it for a long time it should be fine with the type r or even stock clutch. If you really dont have the money then bottom line clutch needs to be replaced and the flywheel doesnt. So if you really dont have the money then just do the clutch.

However, I feel the flywheel is a great upgrade and makes the car a lot more fun. Throttle responce is a great thing. I have probalby about 10k with the type r clutch and prolite and have loved every min of it. It grabs fine and by the time i need a new one who knows if i will even still have the car or what. Maybe eventually ill have 250 hp but by then ill probably need a new clutch anyways.

Just to clearify. The aftermarket clutch and fly are about the same cost and I have enough to get one of them. I'm trying to decide on which one. I'm leaning towards the flywheel. I'm now considering doing a Type R clutch and the Lighter fly like 97teg has done. I could budgit that.
